Re: Gale meets Hackett for the first time
Hackett is a Yorkshireman and they don't need much of an excuse to make a complete cunt of themselves. We were superb that day and showed the whole country what its all about.

I made a few quid selling Tony Gale was Innocent t-shirts in the pubs afterwards. So every cloud...

When you look back, say we had won. I can remember huddling around a little telly in our mini-bus watching the Spurs Arsenal semi-final that was played earlier. When Gascoigne's free kick went in, we all looked at each other and said 'fucking hell'. He could have slaughtered us at Wembley, and maybe not shagged his knee? Still think he'd have ended up where he is now though, but it makes you think. A West Ham v Spurs FA Cup final at a proper Wembley stadium. I was at the right age for that back then, was going to games in a large group, what a day out that would have been.

Re: Gale meets Hackett for the first time
From what Hackett says it was a new rule in the game which he was just enforcing.

The question is was this new rule communicated to all clubs clearly and then did the clubs cascade within?

That game will be forever raw for us

Our mate, who had a ticket, was lost in a fatal car crash in the mid week preceding, his new wife insisted that we went, as he would have wanted us to, which was true

So we did

Then that cunt Hackett pulled his stroke and our lot have fucking hated that bloke with an unnatural passion since

A plague of pox and vermin upon him and his spawn - ad infinitum - THE CUNT

2 things I'll never forget from that semi final

Hackett is a cunt.

And how proud our fans performance made me, to be a West Ham supporter.

Re: Gale meets Hackett for the first time
I'm pretty sure that Slater's shot was handballed onto the post by a Forest defender.

My main memory of that day was their fourth goal going in. You couldn't hear the Forest fans celebrate it as we were drowning them out.

Having said that, they went home happier than us.

In that interview you can see Hackett genuinely regrets it, albeit in an "I was only following orders" sort of way. Objectively you can see how the FA hung him out to dry.

Interesting that Gale says that he thinks it also stopped us winning the Second Division, but doesn't mention the last minute of the season penalty Hackett gave Oldham (perhaps he doesn't know that fact).

Singing dopey songs at another man (knowing look to camera and all) doesn't make Gale look great here. Fair enough with the handshake. There's people from my past I wouldn't shake hands with, but Reggie never could resist being the class clown.

I was 14 years old. Wish I'd been there at villa park. As a kid i was pretty upset when we went 3 down. .. Then the singing started and i couldn't have been more proud. Joined in at home and sang it for weeks.

Re hacket. Utter cunt

I was bitterly disappointed on the day but fuck me, it was a semi 23 years ago. Hackett , in his own words, felt he had little choice.

Its like the Paul Ince thing....Move along.
